Gr.] Mystic deities, specially worshipped in the northernmost islands of the Aegean. Like that of Bacchus or Dionysos, their worship was introduced from Syria, and their name is identified with the Hebrew word Gibborim, the mighty ones (See Brown, Great Dionysiak Myth). See Bacchanalian.
