This place has the reputation of being one of the mildest and most sheltered winter residences on the south coast of England. Owing to its low situation, and the height of the neighbouring cliffs, it is protected in a great degree from all northerly winds; and hence is found a favourable residence generally for invalids labouring under diseases of the chest.
