The art of improving the beauty. Cosmetic, Stilboma, is, also, used for the different means employed for that purpose; as the compounds, into which enter the oxides of lead, bismuth, mercury, arsenic, &c. All these, however, injure the skin, and often give rise to unpleasant cutaneous affections. Frequent ablution with cold water, and bathing are the best cosmetics. Essences, soaps, and all the preparations intended for the toilet, fall, also, under this head.
