Syn.: scoparii cacumina [Br. Ph.], broom. The dried tops of Citysus scoparius. They contain scoparin and spartein. They are diuretic (see scoparin), but are not like digitalis in action (see spartein). The fluidextract of scoparius is official in the U. S. Ph.

- An inorganic water-soluble platinum complex. After undergoing hydrolysis, it reacts DNA produce both intra interstrand crosslinks. These crosslinks appear to impair replication and transcription of DNA. The cytotoxicity cisplatin correlates with cellular arrest in G2 phase cell cycle.
