A machine invented by Hippocrates for reducing fractures. It was a sort of bed, six feet long, on which the patient was fixed. Straps were attached above and below the fracture or luxation, and extension and counter-extension were effected by a winch. It is described in Galen, Oribasius, Scultetus, &c. See Bathron.

- An inorganic water-soluble platinum complex. After undergoing hydrolysis, it reacts DNA produce both intra interstrand crosslinks. These crosslinks appear to impair replication and transcription of DNA. The cytotoxicity cisplatin correlates with cellular arrest in G2 phase cell cycle.
