(SURGICAL,) ‘a book,’ which signifies the five books of Moses-Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deutcronomy. By analogy, some surgeons have given the name Surgical Pentateuch to the division of external diseases into five classes: - wounds, ulcers, tumours, luxations, and fractures.
