A Scotch poet; born at Hawthornden near Edinburgh, Dec. 13, 1585; died Dec. 4, 1649. His principal works are: "Tears on the Death of Moeliades" (1613), Moeliades being Prince Henry, son of James I.; "Poems Amorous, Funerall, Divine, Pastorall, in Sonnets, Songs, Sextains, Madrigals" (1616); "Forth Feasting" (1617); "Flowers of Zion". After a visit from Ben Jonson, Drummond printed notes of their conversations; a very interesting chapter in literary history.
