A genus of plants of the Compositae. The root of L. officinalis (Arctium Lappa, L. major, L. tomentosa, L. minor) or burdock is the L., U. S., and it and the seeds are used as a diuretic and aIterative in rheumatism, gout, scrofula, and skin diseases. The leaves are applied to burns, wounds, and ulcers.
