The larval stage of Taenia solium, found oftenest in the lower animals, as a rule in the pig, but sometimes in man. It has a quadrangular head, long, cylindrical body, and an elliptical, caudal vesicle, and is from 10 to 15 mm. in length. Its presence is rarely noticed in man except in the eye or the brain; when lodged in the serous cavities of the body it is free, but elsewhere it is found in cysts, sometimes as large as a hazelnut.
